STUDENTS MAY REPEAT THIS COURSE FOR 2 YEARS TO CONTINUE DEVELOPING SKILLS WITHOUT REPEATING ASSIGNMENTS.
This course is designed to equip students with the writing skills needed for success in college-level coursework. Through focused instruction and guided practice, students will develop a strong foundation in various forms of academic writing, including analytical, informative, argumentative, and research-based essays.
Students will learn to effectively plan, organize, and refine their writing through a scaffolded approach that emphasizes outlining, drafting, revising, and editing. Instruction in proper citation methods, including MLA and APA styles, will prepare students to conduct and present research with clarity and academic integrity.
Through writing workshops, peer feedback, and self-editing strategies, students will build confidence and independence as writers, gaining the tools necessary to meet the expectations of PSEO and beyond.
This course runs on a two-year rotation. Students may enter in either year and take the course once or twice, as each year covers different content.
